Not the luxury option — the practical one
Private lessons are how most of our students learn, and it is worth understanding why before you compare the rate with a group.
Groups only run at the beginning
Our Levantine groups are built around the first phases and need three people starting together at the same level. That works well for absolute beginners who arrive at the same time.
If you already understand some Arabic, or you are past those first phases, there is usually no group that fits you. Private lessons are not the upgrade — they are the course.
You arrive when you arrive
People come to Amman in September, in January, in the middle of a Tuesday. A group has to form before it can begin; a private lesson can start next week.
Your week is not a timetable
Researchers, journalists, diplomats and people working in the region rarely have the same free hours two weeks running. Private lessons are arranged with your teacher directly, so the schedule follows your work rather than fighting it.

What changes when the lesson is yours
The method does not change. What changes is that the hour bends towards you instead of towards the middle of a room.
The lesson follows your life
- The conversation you could not finish yesterday
- The words your work actually needs
- The sound you keep getting wrong, until you do not
- The landlord, the doctor, the taxi — rehearsed before they happen
The whole hour is speaking time
- In a group, the talking is shared between everyone
- Every mistake gets corrected, not just the loudest ones
- You can stop and ask what you would swallow in a class
- You move on when you are ready, not when the book says so
What it costs · التَّكْلِفَة
The rate falls as your hours rise
Private lessons are priced by the teaching hour. You choose how many hours a week suit you, and the rate follows — a teaching hour is 55 minutes.
A one-off registration fee of 15 JOD applies when you enrol. If there are two of you, the pair rate is lower again — it and the group rates are on the full price list.

What you give up
A private lesson costs more per hour, and you lose the one thing a group gives that a teacher cannot: another learner at your level. Someone who makes the same mistakes, asks the questions you were too shy to ask, and turns up on the week you were going to skip.
If you are a complete beginner arriving at the same time as others, say so when you contact us — a group may be worth waiting a short while for. And if there are two of you, ask about learning as a pair: one teacher, two students, at a rate between private and group.
If you are past that point and on your own, private is simply the better use of your money.

- A free trial first. A real lesson before you pay anything — and the most reliable way to find your level.
- Hours agreed with your teacher, and rearranged when your week changes.
