Long-term Arabic in Amman
For adults who are moving to Jordan and want to learn Arabic properly: full-time, for a year or more, often with their families. A structured programme, a teacher who stays with you, and a centre in the heart of Jabal Al-Weibdeh.
Is this you?
Most of our long-term students are not tourists or short-course visitors. They have decided to make Jordan home for a while, and they want to speak with the people around them.
Moving for work
You are starting a job in Jordan or the region and want real Arabic, not survival phrases.
Studying first
You plan to study full-time for a year or more before you begin work, and want to do it well.
Moving as a family
Your spouse and children are coming too, and you want everyone to learn at their own pace.
Coming back
You studied before, stopped, and want to finish what you started with a clear plan.
The Growing Participator Approach, in 1,500 hours
We teach spoken Levantine Arabic through the Growing Participator Approach (GPA): six phases that take you from your first words to deep conversation, using our own 12-book Amman Series. You start by listening and speaking, and reading and writing come in step by step.
At 20 hours a week (4 hours a day, Sunday to Thursday), the full 1,500 hours is about a year and a half of study. Modern Standard Arabic can be added alongside, in one-to-one lessons.
What full-time study looks like
Each student has a plan written month by month, so your lessons follow where you are, not a fixed class timetable.
- Around 4 hours a day, Sunday to Thursday, one-to-one or in a small Levantine group of 3 to 5 students
- Every lesson ends with audio recordings of the day’s words and conversations, sent to your phone to practise at home
- Our language exchange programme pairs you with Jordanian conversation partners
- A placement test at the start, a written plan for each month, and regular progress reports
- A certificate showing hours attended and level reached, whenever you need one
Settling in, together
Spouses
Partners can study the same programme on their own schedule, one-to-one or together with you.
Children aged 4–15
55-minute lessons focused on speaking and confidence, in Amman or online.
Before you arrive
Start online with the same teachers and materials, then continue in Amman without a break. We can also help you find accommodation.
What we can tell you, and what we can’t
We can tell you the hours. We cannot promise you a date or a level, and any school that does is guessing.
What we control
- A structured programme with counted hours
- Our own books, recordings and method
- Experienced Jordanian teachers
- An honest placement and a monthly plan
What decides your pace
- How many hours you study each week
- How much Arabic you use outside the classroom, which matters more than anything
- The languages you already speak
- Your concentration, memory and confidence
Clear fees for long stays
Frequently asked questions
Do I need any Arabic before I start?
No. The programme starts from zero, with listening and speaking. A placement test tells us where to begin if you already know some Arabic.
Should I learn Levantine or Modern Standard Arabic first?
If your goal is to live in Jordan and talk with people, we advise starting with Levantine, the language of daily life. Modern Standard Arabic can be added later, or alongside, in one-to-one lessons.
Can I start at any time of the year?
Yes. Long-term students start in any month, and we plan your lessons month by month from your first week.
Can my children learn too?
Yes. We teach children aged 4–15 in 55-minute lessons focused on speaking and confidence, in Amman or online.
Can I start online before I move?
Yes. You can begin with live online lessons with the same teachers and materials, then continue in person when you arrive.
How will I know I am making progress?
You receive a monthly plan, regular progress reports, and audio recordings after every lesson. A certificate of hours and level is available whenever you need it.
